Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Technologist

Job Summary:  

Healthcare practice in Staten Island is actively seeking a Full Time Intraoperative Neuromonitoring Technologist. Under physician supervision the technologist will assist the anesthesiologist(s) and surgeon(s) in providing pertinent information during an array of intraoperative electro-neurophysiological testing. The Intraoperative Neuro-monitoring Technologist will perform routine and complex neurological tests to include Electroencephalography (EEG) Brain Stem Evoked Potentials (B.A.E.R.), Motor Evoked Potentials (MEP) and Electromyography (EMG) of the upper/lower extremities and cranial nerves and to provide optimal patient care while performing intraoperative procedures. In addition to provides identification/interpretation of neuro-anatomy, recognition of abnormalities and waveform anomalies.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Education/Experience:  
    • Bachelor of Science degree preferred.
    • Graduation from an accredited electro-neurodiagnostic technology training program (Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) highly desired.  
    • Registry through the American Society of Electro-neurodiagnostic Technology in Certification Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM) is preferred but not required. 
    • Training in anatomy, physiology and physics is preferred. 
    • Experience using Cadwell Cascade Monitoring Platform.
    • Registry in one of the following is preferred: R.EEG.T., R.EP.T., R.PSG.T., CNCT 
    • Knowledgeable and comfortable using computer applications to include: electronic health records, and related software.  Knowledgeable in Microsoft office applications, use of email and on-line systems. • Familiar with the regulations and requirements for OSHA and HIPAA and aware of the compliance requirements as enacted by Federal, State and local jurisdictions.
  • Required Criteria:
    • Board registered or certification eligible in Neurophysiologic Intraoperative Monitoring (CNIM REEGT or REPT) by the American Board of Registered Electro-neurodiagnostic Technologists (ABRET) is required.
    • Minimum of three years’ experience performing EEG, Intraoperative or Evoked Potential is required.  • Must have current BLS Certification 
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license.
    • Minimum of 1 year of clinical IONM experience; CNIM (credential) is preferable, but can be waived for a qualified candidate who is an experienced tech that is willing or eligible to take CNIM exam during first 12 months of employment.
    • Able to perform nerve conduction studies, multimodality evoked potentials, routine EEG’s, sleep and 24 hr. ambulatory EEG’s. 
    • Knowledge and experience monitoring any variety of spinal procedures (and corresponding modalities) required.
